It seems to sometimes happen when the gif is still loading.. other times it will do it just while playing a loaded gif. In both cases, it causes my browser to lag so bad that I can barely scroll down the page. Reddit is the only place where I typically look at gifs, so maybe it's a RES problem.

This has to do with the format of animated gif, which does not work with fixed frames per second. Best is to edit the Animated gif in Photoshop, send out each frame as a separate file (psd, jpg, png or tiff formats will do) and then reimport.
