Frog Buttress is a cliff on the north-west side of Mount French, in the Moogerah Peaks National Park near the town of Boonah in Queensland, Australia. It became famous when local rock climbers Rick White and Chris Meadows discovered it in 1968.

The phone number is: (07) 5463 3300. Rock and Rack The rhyolite at Frog makes for excellent vertical, parallel-sided crack systems. The rock is usually bombproof, although the occasional small flake does tend to peel off. As such, between 1 - 2 racks of cams would be handy. Crack size varies as much as can be imagined.

Frog Buttress is close enough to Brisbane that climbers can plan day trips, alternatively there is a camping ground there allowing weekend outings. It is a great spot offering many interesting and challenging climbs and I highly recommend it for local and visiting climbers. Getting There

As we had suspected the designated camping sites at Frog Buttress camping area were all full. Indeed, there were several tents erected in non-camping areas. There are two vehicle camping sites at Mount French and these both had four cars in them. Before we left home we had checked the bookings on line and only about half the sites were booked.

Camping Mount French and Frog Buttress camping areas map (PDF, 1MB) There is limited camping available within Moogerah Peaks National Park. Mount French section provides both tent and vehicle-base camping. Access is suitable for conventional vehicle and camper vans only—caravans and camper trailers are unsuitable.

Soil and detritus can contain pathogens such as fungal spores that are harmful to the forest and frogs. Keep to designated roads and walking tracks, and the summit route at all times. Start and finish your bushwalk with clean footwear by removing soil before leaving an area and keep all gear as clean and free from soil as possible during the walk.
