Chalk paint is different from chalkboard paint. Chalk paint is a specially formulated flat paint that will stick to almost all surfaces without sanding or priming. These oak cabinets got a whole new life. They are now all painted in Annie Sloan Old White, lightly distressed and sealed with clear soft wax. The countertops are the last thing that will be updated. I'll post more pictures when they're done. I love how this bank of drawers turned out. I think it may be my favorite part of the whole kitchen.

The dark timber needed four coats of Annie Sloan paint, (5 tins) base cabinets I give five coats. I did not want the stressed finish more of a lacquer smooth finish. I painted my kick board's in graphite and end panels. Three coats of clear wax (overheads), dark wax on graphite.

Step One: Wipe down all of the cabinets using Krud Ktter. This is to make sure you don't have grease and oils on the cabinets before you paint. Don't skip this step. I did this while they were still on the hinges and hanging to make it easier.
