Vlasic Zesty Dill Pickles, Dill Pickle Spears, 46 Oz Jar

7 DAY SWEET PICKLES. 7 lbs. cucumbers. water to cover. 1 quart vinegar. 8 cups sugar. 2 tablespoons salt. 2 tablespoons mixed pickling spices. Wash cucumbers and cover with boiling water. Allow to stand for 24 hours, then repeat this process daily using fresh boiling water until the fifth day.

In a large pot (still on the fifth day), combine the vinegar, sugar, salt, and the wrapped spices. Bring the mixture to a boil, and then carefully pour over the cut cucumbers. Let stand for 24 more hours. On the sixth day, drain the syrup and bring it to a boil. Pour over the cucumbers.

Day 7: Pour the entire contents of the jar in to a large stock pot. Heat the syrup and cucumbers until very hot, but not boiling. (I use tongs to fish out the pickles, divide them between my jars, and then use a laddle to pour the pickle juice to the top of each jar.) Pour in to clean jars and seal.
